Creating Capacity for Energy Justice and Sustainability in Hawai’i

Aloha First is leading and supporting efforts to address energy justice for Kanaka Maoli and develop renewable energy solutions for Hawai’i. We want YOU to get involved!

Aloha First has been awarded a ‘Solve It Prize’ from the U.S. Dept. of Energy to support these efforts. Part of the prize will be used to build a microgrid to power our Pu’uhonua and our forthcoming International Center for Island Resilience (ICIR), a mixed-use facility where sustainable technologies will be developed, demonstrated, and applied.

The Solcool Renewable Energy Power Microgrid (pictured) features compressed air storage and thermal storage, and is designed for extreme weather events. SolCool has developed technologies around solar thermal power generation, unique energy storage systems, and enhanced efficiency of commonly available solar panels.

Join us to learn about this technology and other renewable energy solutions!
